The dress, a study

A morning in the studio with one gown, one window and a great deal of patience.

An atelier asked for photographs of a single dress that would not date within a season. We shot it against a bare wall with north light and nothing else.

Fabric is a light problem before it is a fashion problem. Everything here is a single source, moved a few centimetres between frames.

You photographed the seams like they were architecture.

Six frames were kept from a hundred and forty.
